What is it?
It’s your opportunity to help your club become the 2019 Wheelworx Two Provinces Club Champions!!
Triathlon is considered by many to be the ultimate test of individual sporting achievement but this July, you and your fellow club members will get the chance to compete as teammates in our Tri Club Championship.
In 2018 we were delighted to introduce a club championship as part of our national series race. We’re doing the same again this year and offering athletes the opportunity to help their club compete for a prize to the value of €500 and become the 2019 Wheelworx Two Provinces Club Champions.
How will it work?
We think it’s important that everyone who makes it beyond the start line should be rewarded and contribute to their club’s overall score, and at the same time we want to recognise the excellence of athletes who are amongst the top finishers. Everyone who starts the race will be contributing to their club score, with extra points added based on athletes finishing times.
Scoring System:
Every athlete (or relay team) in the NS sprint race will be awarded a score based on their finishing time. We’ll use a reference score of 100 points for the athlete who places 30% from the top of the field, i.e. in the event that we have 500 finishers then the athlete who finishes in 150th place will be awarded 100 points. All other athletes will then get a higher or lower score depending on how far in front or behind they are of this reference finishing time.
We want to encourage as many club members as possible to take part, so while the reference scoring only applies to NS sprint athletes, we will also recognise Super Series, Try-a-Tri and Aqua Bike competitors by awarding 50 points per competitor for these events. Similarly, those athletes who start the NS sprint race but do not subsequently finish will also contribute 50 points to their overall club score. Note: Relay teams will be scored as a single athlete.
Remember it’s vital that you include your club name when entering the race. All scores will be tallied once the final finisher crosses the line and then its winner takes all for a €500 prize fund and perpetual trophy that will be awarded to the club with the most points.
